Welcome to the Rat King.

The idea is this. This is a fund for small scale good. Nothing more. Nothing less. People are encouraged to donate to it when they feel generous or in place of buying my art. If you buy my art through other methods, I’ll also return a portion of that money to this fund (roughly half so I can keep still have resources to make new things). It lives and grows. When you are in a dire place and need money because capitalism has fucked you in someway or another, or your sister or friend is getting evicted because they can’t make their bills, please contact me (ratsratsrats@rats.solutions), and I’ll use what I can from the fund to assist. We all know people who need help in our lives. Why don’t we just make a system where we can help those people ourselves instead of depending on broken government frameworks that are directly opposed to our welfare by nature?

This isn’t money for me. It’s not for you unless you are in need. It’s for your loved ones, my loved ones, and their loved ones too as far as that extends. It’s not a general communal pool either. It’s basically throwing your money away and relying on others to ensure good comes from it. I guess at its basest, if someone is in a tight situation and needs financial assistance, then they are welcome to reach out and I will try to make it work if there are resources. Even if you don’t participate, either way it’ll grow from my contributions and you and your people are welcome to it as all things allow.

[This is all framing in effort to launch a thing sooner than wait for perfect plans. At the time of creation, I intend to create a FreeFunder campaign and a GoFundMe campaign. I find it better to be clear with my intentions because of the nature of handling money and trust, so I am starting by putting $500 into GoFund.Me and $500 into FreeFunder (Coming S00n) so it looks like these campaigns have juice, and going forward, until I deem it time to change, I will set up a $50 donation to each one. I make slightly north of a centennial with minimal living expenses and no additional income. I need to save a little more for a move/stability in my life and have a few more car payments. This is what I am comfortable with giving at this time.]

A few things to note:

If you’re into any of the ideas below, please consider sending this to EVERYONE you know and encouraging them to do the same. It’s an experiment, sure, but a more powerful one with more awareness. If you don’t like any of the ideas or disagree with how I run things, feel free to submit a constructive comment. Honestly, I currently give no shits what you think, but I’ll entertain good ideas, suggestions for improvements, and avenues to more trusted connections.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to establish trust with the idea of ‘non-discretionary need based’ disbursements. I currently trust my morals enough to say I can upkeep the guidelines I’ve set. That’s about all I can guarantee at the moment. It’s a simple concept though, and that’s what I want it to be. Please work within circles of trust to help ensure it’s not abused, and don't add bullshit to it.

It’s also worth keeping in mind. The way I envision it working, the fund will be unpredictable and not always full due to the nature of someone having an unpredictable need. I also don’t see a way that I can control the rate of needs either, so it can’t be viewed as a possible dependence for you or others. I’m not asking you for money. This is nothing but giving for the sake of giving. Engage as you will. 

The amount listed on this campaign is also not actually the amount of money in the fund. It’s important to me that people be able to contribute in ways outside of platforms that take a cut of the donation or charge processing fees. For transparency, I will also be regularly removing the money actively in the fund and making it physical to safeguard it. This doesn’t affect any sort of disbursement etc and merely reflects a lack of trust for systems and institutions.  

When this project launches in full in July 2026, I will do my best to keep an accurate running number displayed for transparency on the home site rats.solutions. I will also be keeping an active ledger.

If you see this idea and like it but don’t trust me, think your friends won’t trust me, etc. that’s fine! Take this idea and set up your own version for your loved ones. It took me about 4 hours after work on a Wednesday. I will also help you if you do not know how and wish to. I don’t honestly have the time, but I will prioritize doing so. The Rat King as a notion will be expanded upon more with the full launch in July, but the rough idea is that we’re all trash animals. If you’re here, then you’re not part of the 1%, and that makes you vermin struggling under the weight of the bigger beasts along with the rest of us. So why not band together and thrash for existence as one and build actual systems of support and care. We can help ourselves when the systems fail us, together, and we’ll be better on the other end for doing so. Let’s build that together.

I’m Caleb (calebletoile.me). I’m an artist who is done existing on others terms so I’m making my own and trying to work towards the life I want for myself and the world around me. I want people to be happy, safe, and free to be who they are. I want people to be free of systemic control and the dangerous frameworks that surround us. I want you to leave someone the fuck alone unless you’re going to raise them up and celebrate the sheer radness that they are who they are. I want health care, shelter, food and essential needs to be a right. I want us to love belligerently and die trying because we’re gonna die anyways.
